Hello Everyone. :-)
Just came across this lovely software. will be installing it soon. But after going through and searching a lot in Google, am confused as to its installation procedure. There are kind of different 'views/methods' about it(Dedoimedo's, in ssj's forum, in Wilders forum, by Cosmo, nothing really clear, and looks like everything is advocated for that particular persons individual necessity.

Question:
I have one Administrator account(system created/('The first account created'). Also have one other account as administrator(call it AM, one account as an LUA(call it km), and will be creating another LUA called qm (I need this for another person using this computer & not trustworthy - never knows where to look or click despite repeated instruction). I will be taking the long route only - disable all security software, uninstall all installed programs, take admin ownership of all files, setup SRP. Only then I will be installing SURun. PLease tell me, where should I be installing SuRun. If I am supposed to install it in LUA, which one would be better, do I need to use 'Run as' in that case, or do i need to install it in the administrator AM account.

:scared:
I intend to execute Kafu-exe after installing SuRun - do I have to execute it in both the LUA's. Then I will be installing the programs. Then browsers - almost never use ie, sometimes FFx, almost always Google - (can anything be done about browser playing only as per SRP rules). Also, I intend to install Sandboxie Free(for now) after this. At last I will be installing the security softwares - First Avira free, then ComodoFW(CIS without choosing antivirus component), and last MBAM free. If there is something wrong or undesirable, or in the wrong order, or conflicting apps, feel free to point it out.

My setup: xp pro sp3, with Avira, CFW, MBAM on demand, p4 2.46 g, 2 gb ram, 40 gb hd, drives-c:23/13(F), d:10/4(F), e:3/2.99(F)[(F) = free], neat & cautious surfing, 3 infections in 4 years(1 minor, 2 major-due to having to visit some unknown far eastern sites for specific products availability & price research), no music files/p0rn5/movies/games.

Thanks especially to Kay for such a nice program. Also to Cosmo and all others who have contributed soooo much to this forum.

Regards
neoser

I think that It does not matter when you install SuRun.
If you set the Windows Option "Set 'Administrators' instead of 'Object creator' as default owner for objects created by Administrators." when installing SuRun, you should be aware that all files and directories created by "AM" will be owned by "Administrators", not by "AM".

If this is a question, the answer is: Yes.
You always need to run Kafu for every user you want to revoke write acces for his autorun locations.

I can't answer seriously here as I don't use any of the "security" software you named.
But in general I would install the "security" Apps first, then the Sandbox, then the Browser(s).

Cheers,

Hello Kay:

Thanks for your Quick reply  .
Was thinking may be you are away from the forum due to other preoccupations.

Your reply clarifies. I will be installing SuRun by tomorrow or so - right now going through the Sandboxie forums to come to grips with that, and also learn a bit about the extensions , so that once I start, I am not held up unduly anywhere on the way to commence its full use.

And I'll get back with the results and keep the forum posted if required.

Regards :-)
