Outlook 2010 randomly restarts when opening a variety of embedded hotlinks. The links generally point to videos or publications on the Internet. The event log shows:
Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 14.0.6109.5005
Faulting module name: SuRunExt.dll, version: 1.2.1.0
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Etc...
Do you have any ideas on why the .dll file is causing Outlook to crash?
Thank you!
I got no problems with Office Word/Excel 2010 here on all my systems. Maybe Outlook is "special".
I don't use Outlook, but I would like to test it to find the bug.

What Windows and what SuRun do you use?
Do you have installed any Anti virus/Anti Spyware/HIPS?
Windows 7 and SuRun 1.2.1.0.
We use MS Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010.
Thank you for the quick response :)
One more point- we are not running Outlook with elevated priveledges (using SuRun). Also, it appears that the links that cause Outlook to restart are abnormally long. I can send a sample if that will help.
I've got one last question too: Win7 x86 or x64?

Please send the sample to me (kay@kay-bruns.de)

[Edit:]
I found the Bug. If a command line plus parameters exceed 4k characters, SuRun crashed.
I kind of fixed it with SuRun 1.2.1.0rc5 by ignoring command lines >4k length.
This is just a quick and dirty fix.
Almost everything in SuRun relies on that maximum command line length to have a fixed size structure to be transferred between client and service avoiding buffer overflow attacks to the service.
To get real support for large command lines, SuRun almost needs to be recoded.
Yes, that did it! Thanks for your great support.
