Hi Kay,

I really screwed up. I was having problems with avast updating (just installed it) and thought maybe there was a conflict with surun so I uninstalled it. I deleted the previous Surunners account (standard account) and reinstalled surun and getting this error where I can't add Surunners to surun (at the time when I tried it was a admin account) and it keeps reverting to a standard account. The error is Putting Cindarella-PC\Surunners user group failed. Windows reports the error as: 1(0x00000001); Incorrect function.

I hope you can make sense of this?

Thanks
Quite a long time ago I've came across this error, but in only domain scenarios.
I can't tell exactly what goes wrong on your system.
Maybe it helps when you disable avast and other HIPS while you setup SuRun. They could block Windows functions that SuRun uses.
If that does not help:
-What SuRun version do you use?
-What OS do you use?
I just installed avast for the first time. The only other security wise programs was sandboxie. I use windows firewall that's it. This happened on Vista Ultimate 32bit and 1.2.0.8 SuRun.

Just for future info what is the proper way to uninstall SuRun? It asked if I wanted to keep settings, it asked if I wanted keep SuRunners account which I probably should have cuz it literally broke everything by deleting that account.

This depends on what you want.
If you want to finally uninstall SuRun you should delete the SuRunners group and SuRun's settings.

If you just whish to disable SuRun you can uninstall SuRun leaving everithing in place.
After you finished what you want you can install SuRun having all your previous settings.

You can also export all your SuRun settings and then re-import them to a fresh installation.

But anyway you should never see the message you described in the first post.
It seems that Avast keeps SuRun from creating the "SuRunners" group.
