I am running SuRun V1.2.0.6 Beta 13 on Windows XP SP3.
I have ticked "Show windows update notifications to all users" in the advanced option of SuRun.
I have SuRun installed on 3 machines.
On 2 machines I don't see the windows update icon in the system tray. When I shut down the machines, there is a note in the shutdown window about the updates being available. I shut down without updating. When I reboot, into the limited user mode, the notification icon in the system tray is usually there and works from here on.
On the 3rd machine, as in the other 2, I reboot but the windows update icon does not show in the system tray. Even rebooting, and switching to the admin mode doesn't show the icon.
How can do my windows update under these conditions?
Thanks
Kay
This unfortunately is an issue with the Windows update client (wuaclt.exe).
This program is started directly by a system service.
It then decides whether to show or to don't show notifications to your limited user.
I did not try to figure out why wuaclt behaves like that.
As wuaclt is directly started by a service, SuRun can't help here.

I did assume that this notification was initiated by windows. It is not normally shown on a limited user interface by windows.
I thought that the SuRun option "Show windows update notifications to all users" in the advanced option would show this notification by taking over the windows task somehow.
If it does not, what is the purpose of this option?
Thanks
Kay
This option in SuRun just sets entries in the machine registry.
You can set them yourself with "gpedit.msc".
If one has Windows XP home, he does not have gpedit.msc and does not get Update notifications.
So SuRun has this option to make life easier for those users.
Unfortunately Microsoft does not follow it's own rules and does not notify about some updates. :'(

I see, so there is nothing I can do.
Thanks anyway for your help.
